Anita Singh
I was born in Guyana, South America with a Russian and Indo-Caribbean bloodline. Grew up in Montreal and Toronto where I studied graphic design and printmaking. Lived in British Columbia for 10 years, where I worked as a graphic designer and visual artist. In 1997, I lived in upstate New York for one year, where I did an internship in book arts, paper-making and printmaking. I also lived in England for one year, where I did an apprenticeship in letterpress printing and various binding techniques. I have travelled extensively through Canada, Caribbean Islands and the USA. During a cross Canada trip in 1999, I discovered and fell in love with Newfoundland.
I have been living and working in St. John’s, the past 21 years as a visual artist and educator. I am driven to create, always exploring and experimenting with new techniques. I create in my little home studio, my downtown ceramic studio and occasionally printing at St. Michael's Printshop. I live in a little green house, surrounded by a vibrant arts community, with my husband and teenage son.
